In this project where I work as a freelance for
Timas Publications, I was asked to work on an illustration for famous Turkish historian professor Ilber Ortayli's latest book. It was requested that the cities described by Mr. Ortayli in the book be highlighted and their portraits included in the illustration. Bringing together cities and his portrait with the right combination in one illustration was a challenge.

First of all, I drew the iconic structures of the 5 cities mentioned in the book separately. Then I drew Mr. Ortayli's portrait digitally using Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. Finally, I put these drawings together and created the best combination. Because the title of the book was 'Journey to the Old World', I thought it appropriate to add papyrus paper texture in the background and watercolor stains.

I strengthened the handmade watercolor effect by choosing pastel tones as the color palette.
